Abstract
592,451. Pyrophoric lighters. COLLIS, J. O. March 15, 1946, No. 6566/45. [Class 75 (iii)] In a pyrophoric lighter with a body formed by a hollow block 1, the cavity is closed by two superimposed end plates 3, 26 secured by two screws 30, one each side of the filling inlet 4. The body 1 is formed of metal, metallic alloy or plastic and has projections 6, 7 carrying a pivoted cover 15 retained by a spring-pressed ball 21, the ball engaging recesses 22, 23 in the cover. The cover encloses the wick tube 14 and part of the friction wheel 9 and has a bevelled face 20 engaging the bevelled edge 19 of projection 6. A pip 25 at the end of the cover facilitates opening. The filler plug 4 may carry a screw-driver 16. The-joints of the end plates 3, 26 may be hidden by coloured or polished bands 27, 28. Specifications 575,459 and 577,342 are referred to.
