Abstract

592,282. Appliances for teaching invalids to walk. DUKE, S. April 20, 1945, No. 9921. [Class 132 (i)] An appliance for teaching invalids to walk includes in its construction a movable seat carried by an adjustable sleeve bracket and supported, when in a position to be occupied by the user, by a second sleeve bracket, the two sleeve brackets being carried on the support posts of the frame of the appliance. In Figs. 1, 2 and 5, the appliance is mounted on a U-shaped base 1 turned down at its open end and provided with wheels 3. Tubular support posts 4 near the closed end of the appliance and 13 near the open end are connected to base 1. The upper portion of the frame is made up of two rods each having vertical portions 6 and 11, a horizontal portion 8 and a turned down portion 9, the two rods being connected by a brace 10. Vertical portions 6 and 11 are telescopically received into support posts 4 and 13 respectively. Seat 19 is hinged on adjustable sleeve bracket 16 and in its horizontal position rests on adjustable sleeve bracket 22. In Fig. 5, the appliance carries a superstructure 26.
