Abstract

[Class 139] A watch comprises winding and hand-setting mechanisms which are actuated by means of a slidable stem arranged at right angles to the plane of the dial and movable from the normal position of rest against the influence of a yielding control, wherein the stem is axially bored to receive a pin formed integral with a frame plate and arranged to act as a guide for the stem in the sliding movement thereof. As shown in Fig. 1 the winding stem 21 is perpendicular to the dial 20 and has a knob 25 provided in a recess 30 in the back 34 of the casing. The stem 21 is axially bored at 23 to receive a guide pin 24 integral with a frame plate 5 and has at the top end a pinion 22 which is normally held, by spring 27, in engagement with a wheel 31 for winding purposes In order to set the watch the stem 21 is pulled out against the spring 27 until the pinion 22 meshes with a wheel 32 which drives the minute wheel 33. The three-quarter frame plate 7 of the watch is formed with an opening in. which is fitted a bridge 6 which has a journal 4 to receive one end of an arbor 1 of a barrel 2, the other end of which arbor 1 is disposed in a journal 3 in the frame plate 5. The barrel bridge 6 comprises a disc 16, Fig. 2, formed integrally with a lug 17. bent downwardly and outwardly and secured by a screw to the frame plate 5. The three-quarter plate 7 is formed of a single thickness of thin metal and is provided with ribs for increased rigidity and has downwardly extending lugs 15 bearing against the frame plate 5.
