Abstract

590,935. Packing plastic materials. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER, Ltd., WILSON, A. D., and DALZIEL, W. April 26, 1945, No. 10476. [Class 106 (v)] [Also in Group V] A device attached to the connection 11 between a continuously-operating machine producing plastic material and an intermittentlyoperating packing machine applies pressure to the material when the packing machine 14 is open and releases the pressure, and accommodates the material accumulating while the packing machine is shut. The device comprises a cylinder 18 and a piston 27 and means whereby air pressure can be applied behind the piston and released when required. The movement of the piston may be used to control the relative rates of production and packing of the material by means of an infinitely variable change speed gear in the drive of either machine. The invention is described in connection with the packing- machine described in Specification 565,143.
