Abstract
590,588. Displaying. DEGEN, A. A. C. March 21, 1945, No. 7113. [Class 3 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] An indicator device for displaying figures or symbols, especially for totalisators, comprises a plurality of hinged flaps or plates located, at points equidistant around the periphery of a drum, on axes parallel to the axis of the drum; the figures being shown in part on the flap and in part on the periphery of the drum. The drum comprises two side-plates 15 of 10-sided regular form which are spaced apart by 10 flat, rectangular plates 16 secured around the periphery of the side-plates. Extending between the sideplates 15 at each of the corners are ten spacer rods 17 on which flaps 18 are hinged. These flaps normally lie flat against the periphery of the drum, but in the case of that section of the drum at the moment under display the plate in position 1 is rotated on its hinge so that its top edge swings forward above the vertical drum face, whilst in a similar manner the plate in the position 10 is moved below the drum face. The upper portion of the figure is painted on the flap in the position 1, the middle portion on the periphery of the drum, and the lower portion on the flap in the position 10.
