[Class 6 (i)] A seed sower consists of a frame 6, Fig. 1, supported on a land wheel and having a hopper 1 feeding the seeds behind a furrow opener 10, the hopper being controlled by a rotatably mounted shutter 25 operated by the land wheel and having four apertures 26, 28, Fig. 7, of varying sizes, one of which is brought into use to suit the size or quantity of seed sown. The shutter 25 is mounted on a central pivot and has four lugs 36, one of which is connected to the driving link 38 according to the size of aperture it is desired to use. This aperture is oscillated into and out of register with the aperture at the bottom of the hopper to release seed into the funnel 3 fixed to the shutter. The link 38 is operated by a bellcrank lever 39 operated by pins on the land wheel. A set of pins is provided on each side of the land wheel which is reversible to allow either set, which differ in number, to be used in order to vary the periodicity of opening of the shutter. A seed stirrer 34 is oscillated with the shutter. A rake 12 pivots against a spring 58 and covers the seed sown with soil. A marker 50 for the next furrow, adapted to be swung to either side, is pivoted at 53 and adjusted by means of fly-nuts 56. The handles are attached by bolts and fly-nuts so as to be easily removable.
