Abstract
588,627. Combs. RAY, B. M. Dec. 2, 1944, No. 24118. [Class 131] In an ornamental comb the teeth comprise U-shaped resilient members one limb of which is fixed to the comb back and the other is resiliently movable towards and away from the adjacent comb tooth to obtain a spring grip on the hair. The limbs 1, integral with the comb back 2, have a spacing member 5 formed at the roots to prevent the unattached limbs 3 from gripping the hair too tightly. The ends of the unattached limbs 3 are bevelled at 4 to correspond with a bevel formed on the combs back between the integral limbs 1 to prevent lateral movement of the unattached limb to one side of the comb and the comb back 2 may be folded over at 6, or a separate strip added which extends below the ends of the unattached limbs to prevent lateral movement to the other side. In a modification the back of the comb is in two strips movable longitudinally in relation to each other one limb of each tooth being attached to one back strip and the other limb to the other back strip.
