Abstract

588,511. Pyrophoric lighters. NAYLOR, S. Feb. 24, 1945, No. 4689. [Class 75 (iii)] The perforated wick tube 1, Fig., 1 of a pocket or table lighter has at one end a nozzle plug 4 with a constriction to. fit the wick 3 closely, the remainder of the tube being much greater in diameter to permit coiling of the wick which at its lower end has contact with or is embedded in the absorbent packing within the fuel .container. The plug 4 is flanged at 6 and screw threaded into the top 8 of the body 10. In a modification, Fig. 2, the tube 1 is threaded into a perforated baffle tube 20 fixed to the top 8. The tubes 1, 20 are spaced apart and their perforations staggered. The wick tube 1 has at its lower end a milled head 24 to facilitate assembly. The body 10 may be made of metal or plastic.
