Abstract

588,468. Non-refillable bottles. WHITTAM, A., and HAIG & CO., Ltd., J. Feb. 20, 1945, No. 4237. [Class 125 (i)] A closure device for preventing the refilling of bottles comprises a valve casing 2 with a valve seat 7 closed by a disc valve 8, internal ribs 25 above the valve seat, and a flange 3 at the top to rest on the bottle . neck. The casing also has an internal shoulder 9 to impede interference with the valve by an inserted wire. A nozzle device 10 fits within the upper end of the casing and rests on the flange 3. It has an axial passage 13, lateral ports 17 and a closed lower end 14 which is tapered to co-operate with a more widely tapered recess in the weight 16 which holds the valve on its seat. The closure is sealed on the bottle by a metal shell 20, and the nozzle device is closed by a cork 21 on a cap 22.
