588,447. Coated fabrics. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., GRAHAM, J., and HIRST, H. A. Nov. 24, 1944, No. 23407. [Class 140] A process for production of sheet material of the suedette type comprises coating a woven textile fabric, such as gaberdine, indiana or wigan sheeting, with a mixture of a finely divided vinyl polymer and a plasticizer therefor ; distributing textile fibres, such as flock, over the coating and then heating the materials to cause the coating to gel and anchor the fibres therein. The fabric may be spread with a paste of polyvinyl chloride and di-butyl-phthalate, the fibres showered on to the surface while the fabric is caused to vibrate, and the heat applied as by radiant heat lamps for a period of three minutes. Tri-cresyl phosphate may be used as plasticizer. The product is suitable for use as shoe uppers.
