Abstract

A composition of a polyvinyl acetal resin containing castor oil, preferably in aqueous dispersion, is used to coat plastic surfaces such as polymethyl methacrylate, cellulose acetate or ethyl cellulose. Acetals specified are butyral, formal, acetal, heptal, propional and furfural. Sodium oleate, casein, or borax may be added. The plastic object may be coated and then shaped.
