Abstract
587,144. Printers' blankets. ABBEY, A. (Dewey & Almy Chemical Co.). Nov. 13, 1944, Nos. 22385 and 25645. [Class 100 (ii)] In textile-printing machines wherein surplus colour is absorbed by an endless blanket from which the colour is washed, e.g., by rotary brushes, the working surface of the blanket is provided with a number of parallel colourcarrying channels 10 generally extending lengthwise of the blanket, with the object of preventing colour from working transversely beneath the material being printed, and also to reduce local distortion of the blanket under the printing pressure and to facilitate cleaning ; when applied to the apparatus described in Specification 583,647, the grooves facilitate removal of the powder. The channels may be triangular, spaced fifty to the inch and .01 in. deep ; alternatively the walls of the grooves may be perpendicular, or inclined or formed as concave or convex arcs. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the channels are inclined to the axis of the blanket at a slight angle and terminate at the margins of the blanket whereby colour is diverted from the margin of the textile.
