Abstract

587,140. Games apparatus. COTTINGHAM, R. F. Oct. 13, 1944, No. 19774. [Class 132 (ii)] Apparatus for practising and teaching golf strokes comprises an upright column 2 on which is slidably mounted a support 4, and a club carrier 8 provided with clamping meansfor gripping the club shaft and attached to the support by a swinging joint, adjusting and locking means being provided to set the carrier in the desired position. The swinging joint comprises a main link 9 pivoted separately to an angularly adjustable support bracket 6 of the support 4 and to the carrier 8. An auxiliary link 13 pivoted to an extension of the bracket 6 and to an upwardly projecting lug 12 of the carrier 8 is also provided to give a forward and upward swing in a putting stroke. Angular adjustment of the carrier 8 is provided by the pivot 14 and the clamping screw 15. Slidably adjustable club holding clamps 16 are attached to the carrier as shown. The base 1 of the apparatus is provided with an adjustable indicator 19 while the upper part of the column 2 on which the support 4 is mounted is bent slightly towards the user.
