[Classes 6 (i) and 6 (iii)] A machine for harvesting potatoes or other crops comprising a digging share co-operating with a lifting conveyer, and a pair of rotatable discs mounted in front of and one on each side of the share, has the discs mounted on separate axles and is provided with means for independently adjusting the angles of inclination of the two discs to the direction of motion of the machine. In the machine shown each disc 5 is mounted on a stub shaft 4 the bearing of which is mounted for pivotal movement in a bracket 7 which can swing about a fixed axis 8. The shaft 16 of the bearing has an arm 18 to which is connected an adjustable link 19 whereby the inclination of the disc to the direction of travel may be varied. The brackets 7 are hooked over and suspended by links 9 having adjustable connections with arms 10 carried by a cross shaft 11. This shaft has an arm 12 connected by a, link 13 to a hand lever 14 which thus serves to raise or lower the discs. A further lever 27 is connected by links as shown to the digging share 2 and digger frame 3, which supports an endless conveyor for the potatoes and soil, for adjusting their height. The discs may rotate by their contact with the ground or, alternatively, they may be positively driven.
