Abstract
586,617. Photographic developing apparatus. HALL, HARDING, Ltd., BUNGAY, J. A., and FAUX, F. G. Nov. 3, 1944, No. 21565. [Class 98 (ii)] Photographic developing apparatus comprises a perforated hollow cylinder rotating in contact with an endless travelling band arranged to wrap round the major portion of the cylinder and effectively cover the perforations in that portion of the cylinder, with stationary means mounted in the interior of the cylinder for closing the lower portion and provided with pads or doctors for sealing that portion of the perforated cylinder not covered by the travelling band. As shown, the hollow perforated cylinder 1 mounted in bearings in the body 4 rotates in contact with the endless travelling band 2 tensioned on the rollers 3. A stationary semicylindrical trough 7 provided with sealing pads 8 seals the uncovered part of the cylinder. Ammonia solution may be vaporized in the cylinder 1 by the heater 6, or may be evaporated in an external unit and fed into the cylinder, the uncovered part of the cylinder being then sealed internally by any suitable device. The cylinder and endless band may be driven at different peripheral speeds to prevent uneven distribution of the gas. The heater 6 accelerates development and dries the drum surface at each revolution.
