Abstract

585,648. Ammunition cartridges. WEINBERGER, J. V. Nov. 27, 1944, No. 23621. [Class 9 (i)] In order to accelerate the combustion of the propelling charge by igniting it at both ends, a cartridge case has a normal primer 9, a second primer 15 near the base of the projectile, and a movable firing pin 17 arranged to be flung against and detonate the second primer by the explosion of the first. The upper end of the firing pin is guided in a sleeve 11 which is held in place by arms 12 and 13 and has a small opening 14 through which the primer 15 ignites the propelling charge.
