Abstract

A stiffening for shoes and other purposes comprises a fibrous base charged with a composition comprising polythene and one or more other thermoplastics in a greater weight than the polythene, e.g. rosin, a petroleum resin or Montan wax. Linseed oil, polyisobutylene and oxidation inhibitors may be added.
