Abstract

584,526. Linear - dimension gauges. M.P.J. GAUGE & TOOL CO., Ltd., and McNAMARA, A. E. Aug. 30, 1944, No. 16495. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge of the type comprising a bar having a feeler at one or each end or on arms extending laterally from the bar has its bar formed by two or more telescopic members a, b which are securable together by a sleeve c, in screw thread engagement with one end of one of the members, and a contractible conical ring d inserted in the said end and adapted to grip the other member. The inner tube is provided at its outer end with a ball-shaped feeler f and the outer tube has secured to its outer end the housing g of a dial gauge , which has a protruding feeler h. An adjustable screw connection may be provided between the housing g and the outer tube a which is preferably provided with a non-metallic protective covering. Laterally extending arms, one of which may carry a dial gauge and each carrying one or more feelers, may be mounted on the telescopic members in place of, or in addition to, the feelers shown.
