Abstract

584,232. Wrenches. ABINGDON KING DICK, Ltd., and BRAMLEY, T. B. Dec. 19, 1944, No. 25518. [Class 61 (iii)] A ratchet wrench &c. has the two pawls 8 for driving the ratchet head 6 in forward or reverse direction mounted on a single pivot and their pivot ends are reduced or cranked at 11 to overlie each other so that both pawls work in the same plane. In the construction shown, the pawls are held in working position by a U-shaped spring 10 housed in an arcuate recess 5 in the head and having a small semicircular recess 9 serving as a pivot for the ends of the pawls, either of which may be held in inoperative position by a cam lever 12.
