Abstract

582,590. Tool holders. REBMANN, C. June 28, 1944, No. 12320. Convention date, June 30, 1943. [Class 83 (iii)] A tool - holder comprises a block with a longitudinal tapering bore to receive the shanks of individual tools or of rotary tool boxes, and a locking device operable independently of the clamping of the holder and arranged transversely in the holder body so as to act laterally on the inserted shank. The tool holder comprises a block 1, Fig. 5, of rectangular section provided with a hole 2 by which it is clamped to the saddle of a machine tool and with an eccentric conical bore 3 to receive the conical shank 5 of a tool 17, Fig. 10, or of a tool box 4. The shank 5 is formed with a recess 6 adapted to be engaged by a locking fork 8 eccentrically mounted in the end of a locking bolt 10 mounted in a bore in the block 1. A guide groove 11 having sections m, n, o is formed on the bolt and co-operates with a guide pin mounted on the block The bolt is operated by means of a handle inserted into a bore 15 and is urged into the locking position by a leaf spring 14 which engages a circular groove 13 of the bolt. When a rotatable tool box is being held by the tool holder, it is prevented from rotating when in the locked position by means of pins 16 projecting from the block 1 into holes in the tool box. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which the tool box is locked in position by means of a draw bolt extending axially through the block 1. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
