[Class 140] Balloon fabric comprises outer plies of fabric bonded together with an organic diisocyanate modified linear polyester or polyesteramide, e.g., such materials as described in Specification 553,733, [Group IV], cured or not with formaldehyde or a formaldehyde liberating substance in the manner described, e.g., in Specifications 580,524 and 580,526, [both in Group IV], and the polyester &c. material may be subjected to mechanical working whilst in the plastic condition as described in Specification 572,738, [Group IV], so as to give it an improved solubility in organic liquids and may have incorporated therewith a stabilizer or antioxidant such as hydroquinone, curing catalysts, fillers, other plastic materials, de-tackifying agents, plasticizers and pigments. The ingredients with or without organic solvents or swelling agents may be mixed in a mill and formed into a sheet or film, or spread or calendered on to the fabric. 100 parts uncured diisocyanate modified polyester amide made from ethylene glycol, adipic acid, ethanolamine, and hexamethylene diisocyanate are milled with 2 parts hydroquinone and made into a dough by incorporating therein 300 parts of a mixture of ethyl alcohol and benzene. The dough is spread on the fabric and the latter doubled over. Ten parts of a formaldehyde liberating substance, viz., dimethylolurea dimethyl ether may be compounded with the polymer and the stabilizer. Alternatively a polyester-amide made by heating adipic acid, ethylene glycol, hexamethylene diammonium adipate and water is modified by heating with hexamethylene diisocyanate.
