Abstract
577,717. Fireguards. THOMAS, R. A. J. May 10, 1945, No. 6880/44. [Class 126] In a domestic fireguard formed in two halves each consisting of a number of sections 2 hinged together at 3 so that they may be collapsed within a cupboard 1 at the side of the fireplace, the inner section 2 of each half is pivotally mounted on members 3a slidable on horizontal rods 4 mounted at one side of the cupboard. The sections 2 are held in the extended position shown in Fig. 2 by stay-bars 7 pivotally mounted in rings 6 within the cupboard and having hooked ends 7a for engagement with ring brackets 8 carried by the outer section 2. The brackets 8a, Fig. 6, on one half of the guard are formed with an additional ring adapted to register with the single ring of the bracket 8 on the other half and thus enable the two halves to be secured together by one of the pairs of stay-bars.
