[Class 37] A resistor is made by coiling a resistance wire a round a flexible core b of fire-resistant material such as glass threads or asbestos fibres, winding this coiled wire g around a glass tube i, enclosing the tube with the coiled wire in a second glass tube h and, after leaving the ends of the wires projecting, sealing the ends of the tubes together at j. The space between the tubes may be evacuated or filled with an inert gas. The ends of the resistance are soldered to metal and bands k.
