Abstract
574,555. Spectacles. GANTLETT, J. H. Aug. 16, 1943, No. 13305. [Class 97 (i)] Spectacles comprise a lens mounting having arches or bows of plastic extending oppositely from a bridge piece, the lenses being mounted on the front surfaces .of the arches, which surfaces may be set back with relation to the bridge piece. As shown, the mount 1 of plastic material has lenses secured to front surfaces 5 either by screws through the lugs 6 or by plastic cement, the front surfaces 5 being set back with relation to the bridge piece 2 and the extremities 4. When the lenses are secured by screws 8 to the mount, flanged plastic cushioning sleeves 10 surround the portions of the screws in the lenses, the flange lying between the heads of the screws and the lenses. A bush 9 may be sunk into the lug to retain the screw and a resilient washer may be interposed between the lens and the mounting.
