Abstract
574,078. Cathode-ray tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 31, 1943, No. 21930. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A signal-recording device includes a cathoderay tube 1 having beam-deflecting means 11 which cause the electron beam to sweep over a number of mutually insulated target electrodes 21, each of which has an individual connection to the exterior of the tube. A record blank 27 is fed past the end of the tube and sparks between the external end of an electrode on which the beam is falling and a spark bar 25 mark the recording strip. The signal connection to the recording circuit is at point 45. This affects the deflecting plates 11 and also affects the control electrode 5 of the electron gun to vary the intensity of the electron beam. In the circuit shown two amplifiers 51 are connected in push-pull relation and their output is connected to electrode 5 through a network of four rectifiers 57 and 59. A rectifier 65 is provided in circuit with electrode 5 to prevent it being driven too positive to an extent that would defocus the beam.
