Abstract
573,925. Combustible gas mixtures. STEINSCHLAEGER. M. May 10, 1940, No. 8444. [Class 55 (ii)] A gas mixture suitable for use in the Fiscber- Tropsch process is obtained by heating coke oven gas and steam to 1200-1500‹ C., or to 800-900‹ C. with a catalyst, and mixing the resulting gas with water gas to produce a gas mixture containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a proportion of about 1 to 2. This mixture is heated with a catalyst between 160‹ and 250‹ C. to yield oils, and a gaseous product which is heated with steam to 1200-1500‹ C. or to 800-900‹ C. with a catalyst to yield a gas which is mixed with water gas to form a gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the proportion suitable for the Fischer- Tropsch process.
