Abstract

573,728. Bearing assemblies. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and LE CLAIR, C. C. S. May 12, 1942, No. 6449. [Class 122 (v)] In a bearing assembly in which one or more bearings 3, 4 are rotatable relative to a shaft 2, foreign matter and liquids are prevented from reaching the bearings by means of grease filling one or more cavities 25 which surround the shaft adjacent the bearings and which extend axially along the shaft away from the bearings, oppositely facing sealing rings 17, 18 being fitted between each cavity and bearing. The invention is particularly applicable to the hollow wheels of tank vehicles as described in Specification 573,726, [Group XXXII].
