Abstract

572,975. Linear-dimension gauges. SHARDLOW & CO., Ltd., A., and CORBIDGE, V. Oct. 6, 1943, No. 16347. [Class 106 (ii)] The micrometer jaws 8, 10 are mounted on a fixed circular shaft 7 parallel with the micrometer spindle 3 and rigidly secured to the micrometer sleeve by a housing 5. The spindle engages a fork bearing 12 in a rearward lug 11 on the movable jaw, and has a head 13 co-operating with a slot 14 in the lug to transmit longitudinal movement to the jaw. The fork bearing 12 has an adjusting screw 16. A thrust screw 15 controls end play of the head 13.
