572,932. Mechanical couplings for cable armouring, sheathing, or covering. ANGLOIRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and HARTLEY, A. C. June 7, 1943, No. 9157. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a coupling for flexible tubes or electric cables of the kind in which a ductile metal inner tube a has a pressure-resistant covering c of helically wound steel ribbon bands and an armouring of longitudinal or large-pitch helical wires f, an outer sleeve h having a flange i for bolting fits over the armouring wires, the ends of which are bent over it, and a thin inner sleeve k is inserted between the armouring and covering c. The sleeve k has a massive flange l over which the bared end of the tube a is flanged at a'. Abutting tubes have a packing ring n between them, and a sleeve m with its bore flared at each end covers the wire ends and abutting flanges. The tube may be bolted to a coupling member having a bore equal to that of the tube a and a flange at each end, the member having a cylindrical flange corresponding to the sleeve m. Specification 572,920, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
