Abstract

572,873. Sack hoists. GARRATT, J. D., and SQUIRES, H. W. Aug. 27, 1943, No. 13975. [Class 78 (iii)] A sack hoist comprises a pair of inclined channel members a, a pair of continuously running. endless chains b<2> and a sack carrier s having rollers which bear on the flanges of the channel members. The carrier has a platform c on which the sack rests and to which is pivoted a pair of arms e<1>. The upper ends of the arms are connected by a shaft e. When a sack is deposited on the platform, it bears against a guide plate d and against the shaft e and moves the latter against the resistance of springs, e<2> into the path of fingers b<3> on the chains. At the upper end of the hoist the sack passes over the curved end of the guide on to, a lorry, the springs disengage the shaft from the fingers and the carrier slides down to the ground.
