Abstract
572,214. Valve amplifying circuits. CINEMA-TELEVISION, Ltd., and WEST, S. S. Dec. 16,1943, No. 21110. [Class 40 (v)] A selective amplifier comprises two valves, each having at least an anode, a cathode, and a control electrode, a frequency-determining circuit connected between the anode of one of said valves and the control electrode of the other valve, and a feedback circuit comprising a'common cathode impedance for said valves. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 the valve 1 to which the input is applied is connected to valve 2 by a network 3, 4, 5, 6, the values of which are chosen so that at the frequency of operation the signal at the grid of valve 2 is 180 degrees out of phase with the signal at the grid of valve 1. With the common cathode resistance, this gives the conditions for positive feedback, the magnitude of which is varied by varying resistance 7. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the resistance 3 and capacity 4 are in series between the anode of 1 and grid of 2 and resistance 6 and capacity 5 are in parallel between the grid of 2 and H.T.-. The resistance 7 is of a magnitude to give negative feedback and a variable tapping is adjusted to give the right degree of negative feedback to prevent oscillation. The RC networks may be replaced by LC networks.
