Abstract

572,138. Wireless receiving apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and KINMAN, T. H. March 6, 1942, No. 2992. [Class 40 (v)] A crystal detector for ultra high-frequencies comprises a crystal 1 of silicon carbide mounted on a resilient wire 2 attached to a metal holder 4 on a tubular casing 5 of lowloss ceramic material. The co-operating contact 3 is adjustably mounted on a holder. 7. Both of the engaging surfaces are ground to knife edges which are set at right angles to minimize capacity. The casing is filled with solidified insulating material such as paraffin wax so as to retain the elements in the adjusted position. Specification 5332/07, [Class 40], is referred to.
