[Class 12 (i)] A bearing has the bearing surface formed by segmental members d assembled together on an intermediate layer b of resilient material in the outer shell or backing a of the bearing. Projections on the back of the segments or, as shown at e, on the inner face of the backing a provide for the tilting of the segments to maintain the oil-film lubrication. The segments d may be formed by cuts on a solid coating applied to the intermediate layer of resilient material (rubber). The segments may be of Babbitt metal, cadmium base alloy, synthetic resin.
