Abstract
571,726. Smallarms. WESTERN CARTRIDGE CO. April 29, 1943, No. 6787. Convention date, April 21, 1942. [Class 119] The pivoted hammer 28 of a bolt-action smallarm has a rearward extension 29 with two bents 30, 31 at its end for engagement with trigger-operated sears 33, 38, respectively. The hammer spring 43 is arranged in upright manner behind the hammer and substantially parallel thereto, and acts against the head 49 of a rod 44, the upper end of which engages in a recess 51 in the extension 29. The lower end of the spring is supported in, and the rod 44 guided by, a pivoted member 45, the trunnions 56 of which are received in semicircular bearings 57 in the sides 26 of the trigger-plate 11. The side walls 26 slope downwardly at 58, in rear of the bearings, so that the spring assembly may be eased into position by sliding the trunnions 56 up the surface 58, as shown in Fig. 4.
