Abstract
571,459. Holding tools. HARVEY, H. H. April 17, 1944, No. 7100, [Class 61 (ii)] A device for removing electric lamp bulbs, also applicable for gripping other articles such as fruit, in which case it may be provided with a basket or container therefor, comprises a number of two-armed gripping levers 28 pivoted at 22 to a head 16 on a tubular shaft 12 and actuated to grip the lamp by a cone 24 engaging the ends 29 of the levers and pressed upwards by a compression spring 40, the levers being retracted by a pull wire 56 extending down the shaft 12. The lamp shade may be gripped during the removal of the. lamp by other gripping levers 64 mounted in brackets on a ring 60 rotatable and axially movable on the head 16 which gripping levers 64 are manipulated by an outer tubular shaft 76. In a modification, the tubular shaft is made up of a number of connectible sections with the interior pull wire elements fitted with pin-andsocket connections and the lamp shade is adapted to be gripped by a single pivoted jaw lever with a pivoted clamping jaw actuated by a pull wire, the pivoted jaw lever being protected by a projecting fence when the device is laid down.
