Abstract

569,639. Gate valves. WENNERBY, A. O. L. Aug. 16, 1943, Nos. 13301 and 13302. Convention dates, Aug. 25, 1942, and July 17, 1943. [Class 135] In a gate valve, the gate is divided diagonally into two parts 3, 4, Fig. 1, which, when the spindle 2 is screwed down, are wedged apart and forced into contact with seatings for the valve faces. The part 3 carries a yoke 7 connecting it to the spindle 2, and the two parts 3, 4 are loosely interconnected by an inverted T-shaped projection 9 on the part 3 and two projections 10 on the part 4. In a modification, the ends of the yoke 7 are bridged by a pin, and a coil spring is interposed between the top of the part 3 and a #-shaped projection carried by the part 4 and covering the stem of the T-shaped projection 9. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a construction wherein the parts 3, 4, Fig. 5 (Cancelled); are loosely interconnected by a screw 15 with a spring 11 interposed between the two parts. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
