[Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Groups II and XXXVI] A base metal of a selenium rectifier or photocell unit is first " selenided " or coated with a metal-selenimn compound, before the usual coat of selenium is applied. Base metals mentioned include iron, nickel, zinc and. magnesium-aluminium alloy, and the preferred method of " seleniding " is by immersion in an aqueous solution containing selenious acid and nitric acid.
