568,540. Body belts. HOBBS, J. May 24, 1943, No. 8249. [Class 141] A body belt 10 has an upward extension 12 to cover the region of the spine and, if desired, a downward extension 11 also to complete the cover of this region. Straps 21, 22 adapted to pass over the shoulders and to be secured to buckles 23, 34 carried at the ends of reinforcing parts 25, 26 of the front part of the belt 10, serve to support the extension 12 during wear, and may be adjustable in length to afford support to the abdomen. In a modification of the belt, more especially for females, elastic sections may be incorporated, and a supporting member of bone or other material may be attached to a strap carried by the belt at the front to support the abdomen. Hose suspenders may also be provided. The extensions 12, 11 may be adjustably secured to the belt but in such manner as not to expose the spinal column.
