568,517. Chimney tops. EDGE, A. Oct. 19, 1944, No. 15450/43. [Class 25] A chimney top, comprises an upwardly tapering smoke pipe a, a<1> around which is disposed a sleeve shaped by bending to form a plurality of open-ended passages b to which the ascending smoke gains access through openings between the upper end of the smoke pipe and an open-bottomed chamber c, c<1> secured to the flat portions b<2> of the surrounding sleeve. The conical top of the chamber c, c<1> carries a rainexcluding cap d and positioning webs f are provided between the smoke pipe a, a<1> and the surrounding sleeve. The latter is secured to the pipe a by bolts h which by engagement in elongated slots g enable the surrounding sleeve together with the chamber c, c<1> to be vertically adjusted to vary the size of the openings through which the smoke passes to the passages b.
