567,392. Speed governors. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. April 17, 1942, No. 5137. Convention date, May 3; 1941. [Class 135] A fluid-pressure servomotor speed governing system is provided with means for adjusting the variation in speed of a prime mover with load. As shown in the Figure, oil from a pump 17 passes to the bearings of a prime mover through a pipe 18 and under the control of a valve 21 actuated by a centrifugal governor 3 to a spring-loaded relay valve 14. This valve acts to supply or exhaust oil to a conduit 23 leading to a spring-loaded piston coupled to the inlet valve 2 of a turbine 1. The relay valve is returned to its neutral position by the pressure in a chamber III connected through a restricted orifice 13 to a conduit connected on one hand through a restriction 12 to the conduit 23 and on the other hand to an exhaust conduit through an adjustable throttle 8. A spring-loaded piston acted on by the pressures in the chamber III and conduit 23 moves to compensate for temporary variations in speed.
