[Class 136 (ii)] A cycle pedal comprises a pair of sheet metal blanks 1, 2, of substantially oval formation with truncated ends, each formed with a central, longitudinal, half-round channel 3 for the pedal spindle 7, the ends of the channel being enlarged to provide recesses 4 for the spindle bearing cups 8, 9, correspondingly disposed slots 5 in the flat parts of each blank providing mountings for rubber treads 10, the blanks when spot-welded or otherwise fixed together forming a frame which contains the pedal spindle 7 and cups 8, 9 and supports the treads 10, the elasticity of the treads being utilised to constitute a source of pressure by which a dust cap is anchored on the pedal. The outer curved edges of one of the blanks are bent to form flanges 11 covering the corresponding edges of the other blank. The cup 8 protrudes beyond the outer flat edges 12 of the frame and has a flange 13, Fig. 7, with diametrically-opposite gaps 14 to permit the mounting of the hemispherical dust cap 15, Fig. 5, lugs 19 on which are passed through the gaps 14 so that cutaway parts 18 in projecting webs 16 on the cap are brought into alignment with the cup flange 13, subsequent rotation of the cap bringing the webs 16 into alignment with the edges 12 of the frame. The cap is locked in this position by sheet metal clips 20, Fig. 9, mounted on the ends of the rubber treads 10, the rotation of the cap first causing the webs 16 to press the outer faces 21 of the clips inwardly against the resistance of the rubber until the webs come opposite gapped parts 22 in the clips when the rubber expands and forces the clips over the webs.
