Abstract

565,601. Extrusion machines. DURATUBE & WIRE, Ltd., and VEIT, J. Feb. 18, 1943, No. 2703. [Class 87 (ii)] An extrusion machine for use with thermoplastic materials comprises a preheating chamber 1 and an extrusion chamber 9, both having conveying screws and being heated, the chamber 9 having its axis parallel to but offset from the axis of the chamber 1 and the discharge end of chamber 1 being formed integral with the receiving end of chamber 9. The chambers may overlap vertically, as shown, or horizontally. As shown, the screws are geared together and rotate in opposite directions, but by interposing another gear they may be made to rotate in the same direction.
