Abstract

564,975. Retractive switches; handactuating devices. MICRO SWITCH CORPORATION. Oct. 6, 1943, No. 16387. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group V] The operating member of a snap - action, leaf - spring type of retractive switch, for example, that described in Specification 419,917, comprises an insulating button 52 moulded about a brass disc 50 riveted to the end of a stainless-steel rod 48, the boundary - surface between the insulation and rod being suitably spaced from the latter and outwardly flared to facilitate removal of surplus insulation by means of a rotating wire brush or cutting tool without risk of damage to the rod and consequent impairment of the setting of the switch. The arrangement also better absorbs impact due to one limb 18 of the spring- fulcrum being engaged by the insulating part 60 before the other. The mould is shown in Fig. 7 with a lip 58 to prevent egress of the moulding resin, and with a cavity to accommodate varying lengths of rod.
