Abstract

564,940. Stairs. BRABY & CO., Ltd., F., FERGUSON, G. H., and PHILLIPS, T. April 21, 1943, No. 6387. [Class 20 (iv)] A metal stair flight unit comprises a pair of side stringers 1 to which are welded a few steps, each formed of a sheet metal plate bent to form a tread 2 and riser 3. The two ends of the metal plate are bent into box sections with horizontal and 'vertical portions 4, 5, one adapted to slide over that on the adjacent plate. The side stringers are staggered longitudinally, and when the units are assembled the adjacent stringers on each side are welded together and the unwelded parts of the steps are welded to the stringers. A tread 10 may be added.
