Abstract

564,930. Electric selective control systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. April 15, 1943, No. 6021. Convention date, May 30, 1942. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Radio apparatus includes a tuning mechanism comprising one or more actuating elements, a plurality of selector elements, each of which is arranged to be actuated by an actuating element to tune the apparatus to a predetermined frequency and means for causing a relative displacement between said actuating element or elements and said selector elements to enable different selector elements to be actuated by a single actuating element. As shown in Fig. 3, tuning is effected by adjustment of a condenser J by means of a rotatable gear-wheel F coupled to a disc E by rods D, D<1> which are rotated into selected positions by the engagement of adjustable stop bars C<1> carried by a set of spring-returned actuators B<1> ... B<10>. The actuators comprise two groups, the odd numbers and the even numbers, corresponding to the wave ranges, and are operated by push-buttons A<1>. . . A<5> shown in a position to engage the odd number actuators. To operate the even number actuators, a carriage R supporting the push-buttons is moved to the right by means of the waverange switch V so that the push-buttons are now opposite the even number actuators. This movement also alters the station names visible through windows in the dial plate. Alternatively, the actuator assembly may be movable by the wave range switch. Manual tuning may be effected by a knob X driving disc E through a gear Z. The actuators B<1> . . . B<10> may control electric switches for effecting electrical tuning.
