Abstract
563,845. Lubricating. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 17, 1943, No. 7804. Convention date. May 16, 1942. [Class 12 (iii)] In a shaft-bearing having a channel 21, 22, Fig. 1, for conducting lubricant to a circumferential recess 19, 20 in the bearing surface 15, 16, a dam 24 slides in a slot 23 in the unloaded region of the bearing and extending into the recess. The dam is biassed towards the shaft by a spring 25 or by the oil pressure built up by the pumping action of the shaft, Fig. 3, wherein the recess 32 has a channel 37 leading to the slot 33 behind the dam 34. Specification 393,169 is referred to.
