Abstract

562,840. Pipe couplings. TURNER, W. May 1, 1943, No. 6897. Addition to 425,141. [Class 99 (i)] In a bayonet-type coupling according to the parent Specification, having two coupled positions, in one of which the valve 11 is opened and in the other of which it is closed, each position being maintained by the action of the valve spring 12, 'the pin elements 7 of the coupling are on the socket member 9 and the notches 5, 6 are in the spigot 1. The pins pass through longitudinal grooves 2 during coupling. The notches 5 are longer than the notches 6. Relative rotation of spigot and socket is limited by stops 4a. Alternatively, there are two sets of pins spaced longitudinally and one set of notches, the spigot being suitably recessed to accommodate the pins not engaging the notches.
