561,647. Elastic-fluid turbines. PARSONS MARINE STEAM TURBINE CO., Ltd., COOK, S. S., and DOUGLAS, L. M. Oct. 24, 1942, No. 14955. [Class 110 (iii)] In a partial admission impulse stage of a turbine, the first, or first few, nozzles b are gradually increased in depth radially. The last, or last few, nozzles d may decrease in depth. The object is to decrease the bending stresses in blades set up when entering the stream of fluid leaving the nozzles. The depth variation may be uniform and symmetrical.
