Abstract
561,401. Valves. SILENTBLOC, Ltd., and HUTTON, P. C. Nov. 13, 1942, No. 16064. [Class 135] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] In a reciprocating pump, particularly suitable for use with liquids containing gritty matter in suspension, one or more pistons A and cylinders C are provided with rubber or like resilient rolling packing rings G, and each valve comprises a rubber disc with one or more rubber or like elastic stems which locate and normally retain the valve on its seat. In longitudinal section the pistons and cylinders may have surfaces which are straight and/or concave to receive the packing rings which may be solid or tubular to contain air or other fluid under pressure. Fig. 1 shows inlet and outlet valves H reinforced by metal plates H<2> and mounted on a common elastic stem H<1> carried by a rigid portion of the casing D between the inlet and outlet ports E, F. Fig. 3 shows an inlet valve J on a stem J<1> surrounded by an annular delivery valve K mounted on three rubber stems K<1> and normally closing three segmental ports K<3>.
