559,434. Knitting-machines. BLACKBURN & SONS, Ltd., G., START, H. W., and START, E. Sep. 17. 1942, No. 13100. [Class 74 (ii)] A set of transfer points F are provided in a straight-bar machine to engage the loops B' held by the welt hooks A when the welt has been knitted, to hold the loops while the welt hooks are withdrawn and restore the loops to the needles D. Each welt hook A has a throat E disposed at a higher level than the hook-shaped end, and the point G of the hook is bent downwards towards the stem of the hook. A raised part H is provided between the end G and the throat.
